The Cornea Department of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University was founded and developed under Professor Du Nianzu, founder of the National Cornea Study Group, and Professor Chen Jiaqi, a renowned corneal specialist and foreign member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Today it is a comprehensive academic platform comprising the Cornea Ward, Ocular Surface Disease Research Center, Guangdong Eye Bank and Cornea Laboratory, and it leads China in corneal transplantation and ocular surface reconstruction.
