Founded on September 18, 1952 by Soong Ching-ling with the Stalin International Peace Prize she was awarded, the China Welfare Institute International Peace Maternity and Child Health Hospital (IPMCH) is a tertiary Class A obstetrics and gynecology and maternal and child health hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Its Obstetrics and Gynecology department spans obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive medicine, family planning, fetal medicine and prenatal diagnosis, delivering nearly 500,000 newborns over 70 years.
